An eight-year-old girl disappeared from Sainsbury’s on Christmas Eve.
Police were worried as little Katie Stewart had been last seen wearing her Christmas jumper in the supermarket in Pinhoe, Exeter before officers issued an urgent appeal to find her.
Fortunately, at around 5.20pm, and not long after an appeal to find her was shared far and wide, officers confirmed she was tracked down and was found to be “safe and well in the local area this afternoon,” said a spokesperson in a statement to the press.
The little girl’s jumper was a Mickey and Minnie Mouse design, with the Disney characters depicted on it.
She was wearing black jeans and black Puma trainers when she went missing.
Devon and Cornwall Police released a picture of the eight-year-old in a bid to find her.
It showed her standing in front of a Christmas tree, smiling at the camera.
Police urged the public to telephone them on the emergency number 999 immediately if they saw her or had any idea where she was.
Devon and Cornwall Police said earlier: “Katie Stewart, aged 8 has gone missing from Sainsbury’s in Pinhoe, Exeter.

“If you have seen her, please ring us on 999 and quote ref 622 24/12.”
